  1. Dear Lulugal,

I am contacting you on behalf of the Minnesota Museum of American Art (www.mmaa.org). MMAA is organizing a large scale yarn-bombing to take place in downtown St. Paul on International Yarn Bombing Day which falls on June 8, 2013. In case you are unaware, yarn bombing is a somewhat recent phenomenon in the arts where individuals or groups use knitted or other worked fiber materials to cover and alter public spaces, often in a playful way (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yarn_bombing). This will also coincide with the programming we’re doing for this year’s Northern Spark event, an all-night arts festival in Lowertown Saint Paul.

We are contacting you because you have a passion for knitting and other fiber arts and we hope you might be willing to contribute your skills to our yarn bombing efforts. This is an all-ages event and we’d like to spread the word, so tell your friends and family. Our goal is to make enough “bombs” to stretch along the light-rail tracks on 4th Street, between our Project Space (at the corner of 4th and Robert Streets) and Union Depot.

If you are interested in being a part of this exciting activity, please let me know so that you can be updated on this event as it progresses. I am also happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you very much for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Chris Battaglia

    1. HI Chris,
Sorry not to respond sooner, I’ve been out of the state at different events.

Yarn Bombing and Northern Lights sounds like so much fun but I will be out of town that weekend.

I participated in Northern Lights last year and it is a great way to get people out in the city and enjoying sites they might not other wise experience.

      Good luck with your event!
      Shawn
