Treehugger Neck Cowl
This cowl is knit back and forth using a provisional cast on and then grafted to make a cowl. If you don’t want a cowl, you can keep knitting until the yarn is gone and have a nice scarf!
Stitch count changes on every row and is indicated in the pattern.
Pattern is both graphed and written out. Three distinct parts to this pattern are typed out in different colors for easy reference.
Size: One size fits most – it is about 5″ wide and 21″ in circumference.
Yarn: Cowl Pattern uses about 275 – 300 yards (251 – 274 meters)
Silver cowl is knit using Rovings Polwarth Silk Fingering, 825 yards (754 meters), 150 grams (5.29 ounces), 80% Wool/20% Silk, smooth, 2 ply. Cowl Pattern uses about 275 – 300 yards (251 – 274 meters)
Blue cowl is knit using, Fairy Hare from Kimmet Croft Fibers, Sport / 5 ply (12 wpi), 300 yards (274 meters), 57 grams (2.01 ounces), 60% Merino/40% Angora
Gauge: 32 stitches and 34 rows = 4 inches in center lace pattern
Needles: US size 3
Techniques used: Provisional cast on, and grafting, ssk, Sl1-k2tog-psso, yo, knit in front and back & purl in front and back.
